16. Thomas HAMMOND was born on 16 September 1687 in MA.^97,117 Hammond Genealogy, p 37: Thomas Hamond, fourth son of Samuel (Benjamin, William) lived at New Bedford (then a part of Dartmouth). Besides land in Rochester, he received from his father 50 acres of land situated in the town of Wales, MA. He m. Apr. 6, 1721, Sara Spooner, and had issue.

FS Hammond Vol 1, p 568:
In 1730 he petitioned for a grant of 2,000 acres of land in Orange and Ulster Counties in New York, formerly granted to Capt. John Evans (Index to New York Land Papers, p 196) A large part of his descendants were early settlers in the eastern part of New York.
