Dr. John Morris ROBERTS was born about 1800 in Louisa Co, VA.260,261,262 On 15 March 1825 in Louisa Co, VA he was charged with [description]263 He owned Land adjacent to McDonalds in December 1829 in Louisa Co, VA.264 John lived in Pittsylvania County, VA on 4 August 1831.265 In June 1832 in Pittsylvania County, VA he was charged with unlawful gaming.266 On 31 March 1833 he was a Doctor in Pittsylvania County, VA.267,268 On 1 July 1833 John acquired 4 acres in Pittsylvania County, VA269 Pittsylvania County, VA Deed Book 35 (1833) page 247, 248.

This Deed of conveyance made the 1st day of July 18333 between John Fowlkes and Sarah his wife of the County of Pittsylvania of the one part and John M Roberts of the other part Witnesseth that the said John Fowlkes and Sarah his wife for and in consideration of the sum of ___ dollars to them in hand paid by the said John M Roberts the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have bargained and sold and by these presents do and each of them doth bargain and sell unto the said Roberts his heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land lying an being in the County of Pittsylvania and bounded as follows Begining at the fork of the road on Fuller line and thence on the same south 75 Degrees East 28 poles to a Chesnut Bush in Hunleys line and with the same N18 AO? 14 poles to a red oak thence N 10 1/2 AO 18 poles to Buckers red oak thence N 87 degrees AO 21 poles to the road thence with the road S 2 ½ E 20 poles to the Beginning together with all and singular the appurtenances to the said land belonging - To Have and To hold the said 4 acres of land with the tenniments, hereditaments and all and singular the premises herein before mentioned into the said Roberts his heir and assigns forever to and for the only purpose use and behoof of him the said Roberts his heirs and assigns forever and the sd John Fowlkes and Sarah his wife for themselves and their heirs the said land with all and singular the premises and appurtenances before mentioned unto the said Roberts his heirs &c free from the claim or claims of them the said John Fowlkes and Sarah his wife or either of them the them their heirs and of all and every person or persons whatever shall will and do warrant and forever defend by these presents - In Witness whereof the said John Fowlkes and Sarah his wife have hereunto set their hands and affixed there seals the day and year first above mentioned -

We James Nance and John Pritchett Justices of the peace of the County aforesaid in the State of Virginia do hereby certify that Sarah wife of John Fowlkes parties to the within Deed for the conveyance of real Estate to John M Roberts, bearing date the __ day of July 1833 personally appeared before as in our County and being examined by us privately and apart from her husband and having the Deed fully explained to her the said Sarah Fowlkes acknowledged the same to be her act and deed having willingly signed and sealed the same, declared that she wished not to retract it Given under our hands and Seals this the 7th day of September 1833.

This Indenture made this 5th day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven Between Bethena P Roberts of the one part and William Newton of the other part each of the County of Pittsylvania and State of Virginia Witnesseth that the said Bethena P Roberts for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and ninety dollars lawful money of Virginia to her in hand paid the receipt whereof she doth hereby acknowledge Hath granted bargained and sold and doth by these presents grant bargain sell alien enfeoff and confirm unto the said William Newton his heirs and assigns for ever a certain lot or parcel of land Situated lying and being in the County aforesaid near chestnut grove containing four acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows (to wit Beginning at the Chestnut tree near the fork of road on Fullers line thence with his line South 75 degrees East 28 poles to a chestnut bush on Hundleys line thence with the said Dr Hundleys lines North 18 degrees West 14 poles to a red oak thence North 10½ degrees West 18 poles to the said Newtons Red Oak thence with his line North 87 degrees West 21 poles to the road thence with the road South 2½ degrees East 25 poles to the beginning To have and to hold the aforesaid land and premises together with all the privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the said William Newton his heirs and assigns forever and she the said Bethena P Roberts for herself her heirs &c will forever warrant and defend the right in fee simple against the lawfull claim or claims of any other person or persons whatsoever.
