Morris Robert GILLISPIE was born on 27 July 1795 in Louisa Co, VA.400,401,402,403 Birth date based on family information - they state he was born in Botetourt Co, but I know he was born in Louisa Co, VA. So I think the actual date is close but I can't guarantee the accuracy of this one. He served in the military Enlisted - War of 1812 - 8 Reg VA Militia on 31 August 1814 in Virginia.404,405 He served in the military on 29 December 1814 at Discharged from militia - War of 1812 in Virginia.404,405,406 407 Book S, p 568

This Deed make the 19th day of January in the year 1854 Between Nelson B Coleman & Almira C Coleman his wife of the One part and Morris Gillespie & Robert Gillespie of the other part : Witnesseth that said parties of the first part inconsideration of an eighty acre US Land Warrant this day transferred and of one hundred Dollars to be paid on the 25th day of December 1854, do grant unto the said parties of the Second part, a certain tract or parcel of Land lying being in the County of Kanawha Virginia being the same conveyed to said Nelson B Coleman by Jacob Pinson & wife by deed bearing date on the 7th day of October 1853, and before that conveyed by Jno Belcher & wife to said Jacob Pinson by deed bearing date on the 22nd of April 1841 and recorded in the Clerk's Office of Kanawha County in Book M - 52 to which reference is hereby made for a more particular description of said Land.  And the said parties of the first part do hereby warrant Generally the property hereby conveyed -- And a lien is hereby retained on said Land to Secure the payment of said sum of One hundred Dollars-- Witness the following Signatures & Seals

On this 11th day of May AD one thousand eight hundred and fifty five, personally appeared before me James Norton Notary Public with and for the county and state aforesaid  Robert Gillespie aged fifty eight years a resident of Kanawha cty(sic) in the State aforesaid who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical Robert Gillespie who was a private in the company commanded by Capt. Wm Buford in the 3th Regiment of militia commanded by Col Charley T Wall in the brigade commanded by Gen John H Cocke at Camp Carter in the war with Great Britain, declared by the United States on the 18th day of June 1812 for the term of 5 months, and continued inactive service in said war for more than 14 days; that he has heretofore made application for bounty land under the act of September 28 1850 and received a land warrant (no. not recollected) for 80 acres, which he has since legally disposed of and cannot now return.
        He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the additional bounty land to which he may be entitled under the act of proved the 8rd day of March 1855.  He also declares that he has never applied for nor received under this or any other act of Congress, any bounty land warrant except the one above mentioned.
                                                        Robert Gillespie On 17 May 1855 he acquired Warrant #20.453 for 80 acres at Dept of Interior in Washington, DC410 Morris appeared in the census in 1860 in Kanawha Co, WV.411 He was appointed Postmaster on 12 November 1869 in Gillespieville, Kanawha, WV412 On 6 September 1871 he acquired Req for 80 acres bounty land - 16776 at Dept of Interior in Washington, DC413 Morris served in the military Pension awarded on 10 May 1872 in Kanawha Co, VA.414 He died Discontinued as Postmaster 11 Aug 1873 about 1873 at the age of 78 in Kanawha Co, VA.412

Morris Robert GILLISPIE and Margaret COLE were married on 12 August 1819 in Botetourt Co, VA.415,416 Margaret COLE, daughter of John COLE and Cathrine BRYAN, was born (date unknown).
