Teste: Jess J Porter, cc He has reference number 1036. Gillum Genealogy: James Roberts - Born in Va. - son of Elizabeth Gillum and Richard Morris Roberts. His father died young and James was head of the family, supporting his mother and the younger children.

He is always referred to as James D. Roberts. I have searched unsuccessfully to discover what the "D" stands for - I believe it is Dickerson - the same middle name as his mother. However, some have asserted that it stands for Dudley. I have never found a reference anywhere in Louisa County or thereabouts for a "Dudley".

I entered a reference to property acquired by James D Roberts in Louisa County, 17 Dec 1845 - but now I can't find any source or proof so I have removed it. If I find any documentation for it I will put it back in his file.
