John and Emma (Ray) Hammond, taken in Stockton, San Joaquin, CA. He was born in Rhode Island in 1843, and died in Stockton in 1912. He was a grocer — proprietor of Hammond and Yardley — for most of his adulthood. She was born in New Alexandria, Westmoreland, PA in 1850 and died in Stockton in 1924. They are buried in the Rural Cemetery, Stockton, San Joaquin, CA.

They had six children: John, Jr., Robert Ray, Edith, Abby Marble, Howard and Lesley. Their pictures and pictures of their families follow.
