Comfort Worthington DORSEY, daughter of Charles Samuel Worthington DORSEY and Mary Pue RIDGELY, was born on 29 August 1830 in Anne Arundel Co, MD.1140 She died on 16 December 1893 at the age of 63 in Ellicott City, Howard, MD.1141 An obituary or death notice for her was published on 23 Dec 1893 in the 23-Dec-93 Saturday last, 16th inst., Mrs. Comfort Worthington Dorsey, aged 63 years, died at her late residence, near Ellicott City, in Howard county. The deceased was the widow of the late W H Goodwin Dorsey. Her father was the late Colonel Charles S Worthington Dorsey. Her surviving children are Miss Comfort Worthington and Miss Mary Ridgely Dorsey. It was to the last named that Jefferson Davis left by will valuable piece of real estate in Louisiana. The property had previously been devised to Mr. Davis by Mrs. Dorsey, widow of a brother-in-law of the deceased. He was the late Samuel W. Dorsey, who was a noted lawyer, and son of the late Judge Thomas B. Dorsey. The estate in question is situated in Tensas parish, and is a portion of the famous Limerick plantation. Mrs. Colonel George R Gaither is a sister, and Mr. John W Dorsey of Baltimore, and Mr. Samuel W Dorsey, of Howard county, are brothers. She leaves considerable property, much of which consists of real estate. She was buried in St John's Cemetery, Howard Co., MD buried next to her husband "Comfort W Dorsey, Born Aug 29, 1830, Died Dec 16, 1893, "Because I live ye shall live also" She has reference number 851.
