31. Jeremiah A ROBERTS was born in 1823.¹⁸⁵ On 28 April 1848 he acquired 7 acres of land by heirs of James D Roberts in Louisa Co, VA⁵²⁴ Louisa County Deed Book AA

This Deed made and entered into this 28th day of April 1848 Between Rhoda Roberts widow and Malinda B & Martha R Roberts daughters of James D Roberts decd of Louisa County of the one part and Jeremiah A Roberts of said County of the other part : Witnesseth That whereas the said James D Roberts decd by his last will & testament lends to his sd widow Rhoda Roberts all his lands for and during her life and after her death gives the same in fee simple to his daughters the sd Malinda B & Martha R Roberts, and whereas the said widow & daughters have agreed and consented to sell a part of said land to the said Jeremiah A Roberts. Now therefore for and in consideration of the premises and also for the further consideration of the sum of thirty dollars to them in hand paid by the said Jeremiah A Roberts at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged & confessed they the said Rhoda, Malinda B & Martha R Roberts have given granted bargained & sold and by these presents do give grant bargain and sell to the said Jeremiah A Roberts & his heirs and assigns forever a certain piece or parcel of land, lying & being in the County of Louisa Containing seven acres to be laid off at the point where Saml D. Purrington & John Vest’s land comes together & running so far on the lines of each of them as that a strait line will include the sd seven acres of land. To have & to hold the said piece of seven acres of land unto the said Jeremiah A Roberts his heirs & assigns forever free and clear of the claim or claims of themselves their heirs & assigns & free and clear of the claim or claims of all & every other person or persons whatever. In the Clerk’s Offices of Louisa County Court May the 3d 1848 This deed was this day partly proved in the said offices by the oath of Richard T Roberts and was fully proved in the said office on the 5th day of May 1848 by the oaths of Drury Wood & James H Roberts the three subscribing witnesses thereto & thereupon is admitted to record.

Eighteen hundred and sixty eight between Jeremiah A. Roberts and
Lucy M. Roberts his wife of the first, and Mary E White of the second part, Witnesseth, That for and in Consideration of the sum of Four hundred and thirty eight dollars in hand paid by the said Mary E White agreeably to a bargain of sale bearing date the first day of Febraury eighteeen hundred and sity eight the receipt whereof is hereby acknowedged and confirmed, the said Jeremiah A. Roberts and Lucy M his wife, do give grant sell and convey unto the said Mary E White all their right title and interest in the tract of land in which they now reside containign about one hundred and ninety eight acres be the same ore or less counded and described as follows: viz: Joing John S Bcuk and others on the north, Dr B M Francisco on the east, William Perkins on the south and Mrs. Mary B. Lipscomb on the west. To Have and to hold the above named tract of land with all the rights and priviliges in fee simple.

We William Grinstead and D W Perkins Justices of the peace for the State and County aforesaid do Certify that Lucy M Roberts the wife of Jeremiah A. Roberts whose names are signed to the writing within bearing date the twelfth day of march Eighteeen hundred and sixty eight personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and being examined by us privily and apart from her husband and having the writing aforesaid full expalined to her, she the said Lucy M Roberts acknowledged the said writing to by her act and deed and declared that she had willingly executed the same and does not wish to retract it.

Jeremiah A ROBERTS-1366 and Elizabeth Lucy Mildred WHITE-1930 had the following children:
