Morris GILLESPIE was born in June 1826 in Virginia.⁴⁰¹ On 19 January 1854 he acquired 80 acres of land in Kanawha County, WV in Kanawha Co, VA⁴⁰⁸ This Deed make the 19th day of January in the year 1854 Between Nelson B Coleman & Almira C Coleman his wife of the One part and Morris Gillespie & Robert Gillespie of the other part : Witnesseth that said parties of the first part in consideration of an eighty acre US Land Warrant this day transferred and of one hundred Dollars to be paid on the 25th day of December 1854, do grant unto the said parties of the Second part, a certain tract or parcel of Land lying being in the County of Kanawha Virginia being the same conveyed to said Nelson B Coleman by Jacob Pinson & wife by deed bearing date on the 7th day of October 1853, and before that conveyed by Jno Belcher & wife to said Jacob Pinson by deed bearing date on the 22nd of April 1841 and recorded in the Clerk's Office of Kanawha County in Book M - 52 to which reference is hereby made for a more particular description of said Land. And the said parties of the first part do hereby warrant Generally the property hereby conveyed -- And a lien is hereby retained on said Land to Secure the payment of said sum of One hundred Dollars -- Witness the following Signatures & Seals

This deed was this day presented to me and duly acknowledged by Nelson B Coleman party thereto ... I do further certify that Almira C Coleman the wife of said Nelson B Coleman whose name is also Signed to the said Deed bearing date the 19th January 1854 personally appeared before me in my County aforesaid, and She being examined by me privily & apart from her husband and having the deed aforesaid fully explained to her. She the said Almira C Coleman acknowledged the said Deed to be her Act, and celared that She had willingly executed the Same And does not wish to retract it ...
