I give to my son John Roberts my Tract of Land Lying on the head of Buck Creek Bought of Joseph Montgomery – I give to my son Matthew Roberts my Plan= tation and the different Track of Land adjoin(sic) the Plantation Whereon I now live – I give to my son Henry Roberts three hundred pounds specie to be Raised out of my Estate during his minority and to be paid unto him on his coming of age I give each of my daughters Elizabeth Thomas Frances Roberts Susannah Roberts and Ann Roberts – a small negro and horse and saddle and feather Bead and furniture to them and their heirs Lawfully begotten and I give to Each of my sons John Roberts Henry Roberts and Matthew Roberts a horse and saddle and feather Bead and furniture I give to my Daughter Sarah Thomas and to her heirs lawfully begotten,four negroes namely, Peter Mol Jeny and Ross they being the negros which John Thomas has now in his possession – all the remainder of my Estate Which is not devised I leave to be equally divided amongst my daug= hters and sons namely Zachariah Roberts John Roberts Henry Roberts Matthew Roberts Elizabeth Thomas Frances Roberts Susanna Roberts and Ann Roberts /on my youngest children coming of age to be given them/ to be equally divided amongst them and their heirs, and my will is that if any of my Children should die without issue that their parts be equally divided amongst the survivors. And At a Court held for the aforesaid County the Sixth Day of October 1788 This Will was further proved by the Oath of Cornelius Murrell a Witness thereto. Whereupon Henry Roberts, Zachariah Roberts & John Roberts Executors Herein named with William Harris & Charles Irving the Securities Entered into and Acknowledged Bond in the penalty of Five thousand pounds, and took the oath Required by Law, and ordered to be Recorded Test. At a court held for Amherst county the sixth day of October 1788 this bond was acknowledged by the subscribers thereto and ordered to be recorded. He had his estate probated on 5 January 1795 at Legatees divide estate in Amherst Co, VA.65 Elliott had his estate probated on 20 July 1807 at Further division of estate in Amherst Co, VA.66 The years of birth for the 8 children referred to in Elliot Roberts's will are first in the order that he refers to them and with general assumptions based on standards of majority, marriages etc. I have no concrete proof for any of them.
